In southwest part of island Krk, underneath the hill of Veli Vrh, in a wide and wind protected bay there lies Punat. Pleasant Mediterranean climate, rich soil and rocky plateau have stipulated the development and economy of this place. It is from antient known for culture of fishing, maritime affairs, shipbuilding in wood, wine-growing, olive-growing and production of high quality olive oil, in the past 80 years it has been most intensly complementing its development with tourism.
